Hello Davina,

Not that I don't trust your process, but you wiped the disk using Linux O/S and 
according to that O/S the disk is indeed erased, but have you thought that, 
there might be other O/S or software that can still read it?
One time, our manager even suggested that we comply with the RCMP 
'certification' (yes, the RCMP also has a process regarding this issue) in 
destroying disks and tapes, but too much work, so we decided not to, just stay 
with our in-house process.

I sold a hard disk drive on eBay recently. Before I removed it from my
Linux machine I ran the command:

yes "There is no data on this disk" > /dev/hdc

I was quite happy that I was safe after this. The command took a few
minutes to complete.
