Hello Philip,
We deal with a local company the provides us both offsite storage of paper and
media records as well as destruction. They have the equipment to shred all
media to pieces when it is not usable anymore (unreadable, old technology -
8mm,4mm, etc.). With regards to hard drives, it's best if you can buy a
'degausser' (search in google) then drill holes in them and remove the
electronics as well before throwing them out in the garbage.

All,

Please forgive me if this is an inappropriate forum for this question.

I have been tasked with generating a Data Destruction Policy for my
employer. This would be the kind of policy you'd use to govern how a
person destroys, for example, a known-bad hard drive or tape.

Does anyone out there have an existing policy I could take a look at?
