Here is some info on Legato & 2003's ASR, hope it helps.

NetWorker Support for ASR:
--------------------------
NetWorker release 7.0 supports ASR for Windows XP Professional and
Windows Server 2003 NetWorker clients. NetWorker software support for
ASR is installed as a standard component of NetWorker release 7.x client
installations. No additional Legato software module or licensing is
required.

The NetWorker ASR Save Set:
---------------------------
The NetWorker ASR save set contains all the information necessary to
perform an automated reinstallation of Windows, restoration of the
system configuration, and recovery of one or more disk volumes, to
return the failed computer to its condition at the time of the last ASR
backup.
The ASR save set can be backed up by itself, or as a component of save
set All.
Like the NetWorker SYSTEM save sets, ASR is automatically backed up at
level full.

Usage Overview:
---------------
Because ASR is the recommended NetWorker disaster recovery method for
Windows XP Professional and Windows Server 2003 NetWorker clients, it is
strongly recommended that you perform ASR backups on a regular basis.
You can perform an ASR backup using either of these methods:
* As part of a regularly scheduled group backup, configured using the
NetWorker Administrator program.
* In a manual backup using the NetWorker User program.
You can create an ASR disk using either of these methods:
* By restoring the ASR save set on the NetWorker client computer.
* By performing a directed recovery of the ASR save set to a different
NetWorker client computer.
In the event of a disaster on the NetWorker client, use the ASR disk to
perform an ASR recovery. This must be done locally, on the failed
NetWorker client computer.

Important: NetWorker software currently supports ASR for clients only,
not for NetWorker servers or storage nodes. In addition, ASR operates
only when the client is backed up to a NetWorker Server running
Microsoft Windows 2000 Server or Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
ASR recovery is not supported for NetWorker clients operating in an MSCS
cluster environment.

Microsoft ASR Documentation:
----------------------------
Microsoft recommends using ASR as a last resort, after all other system
recovery options (such as Safe Mode Boot and Last Known Good) have been
exhausted. Failure of the system drive is an example situation in which
ASR recovery is appropriate. For detailed guidelines on how ASR fits
into the general scheme of Windows repair and recovery tools, refer to
the Microsoft Windows documentation.

Hi everybody,

Some months ago, I've sent this message about a problem related to ASR
under Windows 2003. Today I have'nt yet a solution to it.

After more researching I suppose the problem is related to ASR itself
nor Legato because NTBACKUP has the same errors. The ASR files can't be
created in this machine. I've installed other machines using 2003
without problems.

More tips indicate that the problem could be something related to the
machine having a RAID1 using an ICH6R chipset but I couldn't be sure of
this.

Anyone has seen something like this? If not, is it possible to disable
Legato trying to do an ASR backup?

Thank you very much!
