Background:

A Microsoft Cluster consisting of the following:

       two nodes: svits49 and svits51
              OS: Windows 2003 Enterprise
    Virtual node: d2lcluster
Networker Client: 7.1.2

The Networker Server:

            node: rit010n20
              OS: Solaris 9
Networker Server: 7.1.3

nsrlic -v done on the Networker server reports that svits49 and svits51 are
using NT Cluster Client licenses.

Disk Layout:
    svits49: C:
    svits51: C: and T:
 d2lcluster: G:\, G:\share\Desire2Learn\Instances\RIT\web,
G:\share\Desire2Learn\Instances\RIT\upload,
             G:\share\Desire2Learn\Instances\RIT\temp level=full, Q:\ (Q is
the quorum disk)

At the time of testing, d2lcluster "resided" on svits49.

>From Legato support, I was told to do the following:
  1) Create on the two physical nodes an empty file called pathownerignore in
\Program Files\Legato\nsr\bin
  2) Restart the nsrexecd service on each node
  3) Change the backup command on all three clients to be:

save -c xxxx where xxxx was the name of the client: svits49, svits51
and d2lcluster

  4) Define the saveset definition for d2lcluster to be the four filesystems on
G: and also Q:,
svits49 and svits51 were to use All for the saveset definition.

The results were:

d2lcluster backed up the five savesets listed in its client definition,
svits51 which did not have the d2lcluster service backed up its local drives,
ASR and the SYSTEM savesets.

However, svits49 backed up both its local drive and the cluster drives.

The email notifications can be seen below.

What I want to do is to get svits49 and svits51 to only back up its local
drives, SYSTEM and ASR savesets and
to get d2lcluster to back up the cluster drives. I would love to be able to
use All where ever possible.

Is it possible that svits49 may not be cluster-aware from Networker
perspective. I know that Windows 2000 had
a similar problem which was fixed in a SP release. I have found no discussion
that Windows 2003 has this same problem.

Any ideas for resolving this?

Thanks,

Ed
