How well data compresses is a factor how compressable it is and how fast
the data can be streamed to each tape drive. For example, if you have
streaming video data go to one cartridge, you can expect it not to
compress well at the tape drive level because the data in its normal
format is already compressed. This all assumes you are actually using
hardware compression, not NetWorker's software compression.
