There are exceptions to that. When Legato doe snot have a 7.x client for an
OS, for example.
 
One that springs to mind is OpenVMS, which is 6.0.1 based.

Support for 6.x  ended on Jan 30.   That said, what we've found, even
before
that, when callling Legato support having an older on client version
on the client simply confuses any issue...99% of the time we are told to
upgrade.  So in terms of support, we're told its ok, but in practice it
slows down problem solving and is usually not ok.
