Tammie,

The slowness of your network could be overcome by first backing up to disk on 
the legato server and then stage to the mammoth thus the slowness of the data 
stream to the tape drive is gone

Large ide or s-ata disks and a license for up to 1 Gb of backup to disk is 
usually less than a new tape drive
