The last time I looked, the most recent version of Linux was 2.6.10,
since Linux is in fact just the kernel, so the numbering refers to the
kernel version.
If instead you are referring to a particular distro version then you
need to qualify it by naming the distro, e.g. RedHat Linux version 8.
Just my pedantic 2 pennorth.
