You're going about this the wrong way. For the drive that was removed,
just go to nwadmin or nsradmin -> media -> devices and then select the
device entry for the item that was removed and go to the "enabled" field
and mark it as "no". Then click on save. You're done. When the drive has
been replaced, just go back and mark it as enabled again.

By the way, next time, if you have a failed drive, ask for the replacement
drive to be sent first, that way you do not have to operate your backups
with a missing tape drive.
