[Networker] TapeAlert broken in 7.1.3?
2005-01-24 12:14:45
In networker 7.1.2 for solaris, TapeAlert CleanNow flagging of drives
worked just fine. For those of you who wonder what that is, its a flag
that is sent by the drive, via the CDI interface, and that tells networker
that the drive needs cleaning. It says roughly "TapeAlert CleanNow flag
has been posted for drive /dev/rmt/0cbn", and sets the networker flag
"clean now" to yes.
When we upgraded to 7.1.3, this stopped working altogether. No messages in
daemon.log, and drives haven't been flagged for cleaning since. However,
the drives still post this information, since its visible in the OS. I
still see the associated messages in the /var/adm/messages file. That
leads me to believe that networker has changed to ignore or not to see
such messages at all in 7.1.3 .
Has anyone else encountered this lately? Any clues of why this isn't
working anymore? The upgrade was contudcted without any configuration
changes, except that we had to run "lus_add_fp_devs" again.
Am I the only one running in to "simple" problems like this often with
this product? :P
