Mysql definitely supports dumping table contents to files.
I am not involved in this directly, but that's what we do
with our ldap data, is simply dump it nightly and then we
use NetWorker to back up the dumped files. I don't know if
mysql supports hot backups, but even so, I don't think
NetWorker has a module to utilize that type of backup
anyway, although I am happy to be corrected if I am wrong.
