This happened to me as well.  Call Legato support - there is a hotfix
for this problem.

We recently upgraded our clients to Networker 7.1.2 from 6.1.3.  We have
a group of file servers that were working fine until we upgraded the
clients to 7.1.2.  After upgrading the client most of the directories
fail to backup with a "Access is denied." error.
 
Anybody have any ideas?
