(Insert thumb into mouth here)

As far as I know (read think / was lead to beleive) Legato gets it hostid from
a combination of MAC , IP , name and SID (if youre using windows). This is why
I tell myself I have had issues when joining the same computer / IP / name to a
different domain (new SID).

I must confess that I am not a 100% sure if the same applies to Linux / Unix.

Off course if you generated your hostid from your IP only then you wont have
most of these issues if your IP stays the same.

Regards,
Riaan

Riann, et. al.,

Just out of curiosity, if, as a result of the network problem, this
computer received a different NAME, and dynamic DNS is in use, could
such a change cause this problem? How does Networker determine
the machine it was meant to run on? Only from the MAC address and other
machine-dependent information?

                                                        Matt Temple
