Greetings,
I'm trying to solve some errors while trying to backup 2 of my
clients. They are both W2K and reside in a group with W2003 servers
which work fine. A client initiated backup works fine.
My platform is Alpha ES45 (Tru64 5.1B, NW 7.1.1) server and
clients run NW7.1.1.
I've searched these archives, but have tried the suggestions
offered, but we still have the problem. Uninstall/Reinstall the client,
added "root AT client1.xyz DOT corp, etc; Install/Reinstall were done from the
Administrator's account, etc.
A couple of weeks ago, after a modification on the DNS entries,
these two clients started responding with "Connection Refused"
errors/messages. During that time, a "ping -a IPofServer" would not
return the servers hostname from any of the Windows clients, but the
W2003 machines would still back up fine, but not the W2K machines.
Some additional modifications were made to the DNS this past
week and the "ping -a IPofServer" started working, but the W2K machines
changed from "Connection Refused" to now "Permission denied".
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
