[Networker] Problem recovering on a Solaris box
2004-08-30 13:19:11
We seem to have run into a problem here with doing a
file recovery. The results look like:
# recover -s lgtosvr
recover: Cannot contact nsrexecd service on lgtoclnt.temple.edu, Service
not available.
recover: Current working directory is /usr/local/
=======
Then after I added the files, and hit recover, here's what happened:
=========
recover> recover
recover: Total estimated disk space needed for recover is 29 MB.
Recovering 952 files within /usr/local/ into /tmp/apache
Volumes needed (all on-line):
D00535 at rd=lgtonode.temple.edu:Qualstar
A00538 at rd=lgtonode.temple.edu:Qualstar
B00052 at rd=lgtonode.temple.edu:Qualstar
Requesting 952 file(s), this may take a while...
recover: recover failed: recover: RPC error: Remote system error
Recover completion time: Mon Aug 30 09:35:38 2004
I changed the hostnames in this output for security reasons. Our NetWorker
server runs on a Solaris 9 box with Power Edition NetWorker 7.1.2 and the
tapes are available on a Qualstar tape library that is connected to a
Solaris 9 storage node with NetWorker 6.1.3 and the client in question
runs Solaris 8.
I was able to recover the files to our server and then tar them up and put
them back on the client, but I want to find out what's causing this
problem that prevents us from doing a recover directly to the machine in
question.
I did check to make sure reverse DNS lookups work in both directions. That
did not reveal any problems though.
Any ideas will be appreciated.
