I have used Curtis Preston's hostdump.sh with great success.
You could make this dump over nfs to the Networker Server.
Backup your partitioning information as well (using dd) and save
it with the hostdump.

In a case of a recovery boot with Knoppix, mount the dump directory
on the nfs server, restore the partioning information with dd and the
filesystems on them and then recover the hostdump.

After recovering the system files and binaries from the dimp restore
userdata from the networker server.

Or you can build your own knoppix cd with an networker client on it.

uwe
