Hi List,

What is the best practice for restoring a Linux client from backup?
Assuming a hard drive failed and the entire server had to be restored from
backup...

The NetWorker Disaster Recovery manual is a bit vague. It mentions
reinstalling the OS with the same settings then restoring all files. The
manual also provides a short list of Unix files that should not be
overwritten.

The NetWorker Recovery Manager appears to only support Solaris and
Windows 2000 -- but not Windows 2003. Has anyone used it with Linux?

Finally, does anybody have a 3rd party or homegrown method to recover a
linux server from backup? I've used Knoppix to restore Amanda clients
from backup but Knoppix doesn't include a NetWorker client.
