Well...

If you have file indexes, you could compare what you've got with what's
in the saveset, then try some recoveries of those files.  Networker
knows where the files are and will only use that tape.

Another method would be to use 'scanner' on that volume/ssid, feed it
into uasm, and drop the data onto the disk.  You can start the scanner
at any point on the tape, so if there's just a bad spot at the
beginning, it could start reading at file #5 or file #6 say.  That won't
tell you what you're missing, but it might recover more stuff.
