Word fuser is on Linux as well.  As well as lsof.  Fuser is probably your
better bet.

You can use 'pfiles' or 'lsof' on Sun machines to do something similar, but
I normally use it the other way.

Since I know all my devices, I just see what processes have them open.

fuser /dev/rmt/*cbn

will output the devices and the PID of processes that have them open.
