I think this is the answer I was hoping for, thank you. Basically my concern
was whether the software I have now, would properly operate a new tape library
if I have to replace the Cybernetics Treefrog I have now. It sound like yes,
possibly my installing the available 6.14 update, which would be permitted under
my license. Again, thank you!

In brief:

1. Failing Cybernetics Treefrog (30 tape 4U AIT-1 tape library - SpectraLogic
OEM)
   installed on WinNT 4 SP6a Networker 6.11.
2. Cybernetics will fix the libraries, but the cost to repair may be more than
purchasing new. The 30 tape AIT-1 library has a rough capacity of 1.5TB at
2:1.
3. I'm considering purchasing a Sony LIB-81/A2 (8 tape AIT-2 1U library, using
existing tapes, about $3K USD and 1TB), or an Exabyte VXA-2 Packetloader 1U
   (10 VXA-2 tapes, about the same capacity, about $2K USD + 10 tapes = $3K).
4. Networker 6.11->6.14 would seem to support it. (The Sony compatibility info
implies 6.x.x compatible. Exabyte says requires Networker 6.2.)
5. No one believes installing 6.2 is a good idea. Stay with 6.1x.

Thank you everyone for your time and advice. -Gary

Your current licensing would support this move. - HOWEVER - can I throw a
potential spanner in the works...
NW 6.2 is quite an "old" version of code (pre 6.1.1) and I have a bunch of
clients that installed this "by mistake" (on the CD it is the first
selectable option on the gui and "surely" 6.2 is newer than 6.1.2 / 6.1.3 ?)
... and they (read me) have endless hassless.
I would take a serious look before going 6.2. I would rather go 6.1.4 which
is the "final" release for the 6.x versions and would be the most up to date
regarding compatability etc. (your current 6.x licences would support this
as well)
