we use a vendor and keep the clones in their vault
i dont think the bootstrap will help me in my position, since i dont care
about rebuilding the legato server at the DR site, im just going to use
"scanner -c clientname -x uasm -yv" on the new server to recover the old
data. I am just looking for the best way to be able to locate the tapes
needed for this. The mminfo -avot help is great but it would take me a
while to locate the exact tape i need plus that command does not show the
clone pool the tape is from.

I dont have a juke box at the dr site, just a server and a standalone tape
drive, i guess i could rebuild the legato server on that, but i think it
might waste alot of time before i can start the restores. With scanner i
can start the restore right away. correct me if im wrong.

any ideas?

thanks alot!

The bootstrap output should have 2 tapes, 2 ssids(same) and 2 tape names
that represent your bootstrap if you are cloning. You may have to run an
mminfo -B in the morning so it shows the latest clone tape.

In your case it may be true that the barcodes don't tell you which one is
from the clone pool but one of them should be offsite. When we send our
clones out we mark there location "offsite" with the mmlocate command but
that will not help in a DR situation.

If you have a disaster you will want the latest tape of the 2 you have
listed. Just request both from offsite and one of them should be off site
and have the bootstrap.

Are you doing your own off site storage or using a vendor?
