Hello List ,
We have 2 servers : SERVER_A & SERVER_B.
Each machine has 2 network adapters installed ; the first for 'public' access ,
the second intended for backup with NetWorker.
The machines have identical hardware specs. SERVER_A is for production ,
SERVER_B the standby.
The goal :
In case of disaster/failure SERVER_A , we want SERVER_B to take over.
The way :
On SERVER_B a basic W2K with Networker client is installed.
So we power down SERVER_A , recover "C:\" , "SYSTEM DB" , "SYSTEM FILES" ,
"SYSTEM STATE" from SERVER_A towards SERVER_B
This means SERVER_B becomes SERVER_A.
The problem :
The restore doesn't give any problems , but after the restore a system boot is
necessary.
After the reboot , the second NIC ( NetWorker ) is gone. A 'Find New Hardware'
operation doesn't bring a solution.
In the registry the settings for the nic are ok.
When we insert an nic from another brand in the same pci bus , the system
recognizes the new adapter.
Or when we swap the original nic to another pci bus , then the system also
recognizes the original adapter.
Anybody encountered this problem before ?
All help & suggestion more then welcome ,
