Re: [Networker] Optimum Target Sessions

Hi,
The easiest thing really is to increase it and see whether your performance
throughput to drive increases as well ... (as you probably know there is no
risk - apart from slower restores...).
Handy tip, do a recovery (with target sessions set to 4) beforehand and get
an idea of how long it takes to recover a specific file / directory etc.
Then do a recovery test after you have upped you target settings and compare
the two.
A lot of people (myself included) prefer rather to "suffer" slightly slower
backups but to have significantly faster restores ....
Regards,
Riaan

Subject: [Networker] Optimum Target Sessions
How can I determine the optimum target sessions for LTO Ultrium Drive
(or just in general). Right now it's set to 4 and I think it runs well
but if I can increase that to increase performance that would be great.
We have GBIC connections so I don't think the network portion would
hinder performance if we did an increase.
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian
