Ken,
It depends on the platform you're running on. With Solaris you can use the top
command to see activity from scanner. On Windows, you can use Task Manager to
do the same thing.
To see actual output however, you would need to pipe the output from scanner to
the "more" command and then redirect the output from the "more" command to a
text file. Then you could check the text file every so often to detect changes
in file size and content. That's about the only way to monitor scanner output
in "real time".
