Hi Everyone,
I have a Networker 7 server running on Redhat 9. This is on an
Aberdeen Systems Blackwatch with 8 180GB IDE disks in a RAID 5. I'm backing
up to disk before cloning off to tape. The adv_file devices are all on the
RAID 5, formatted with JFS. Currently, I'm getting very poor speed writing to
disk. I have 2 Gigabit Ethernet connections from this system, one into my
internal network, and one into the DMZ, so I can backup both networks
simultaneously without being bottlenecked by the firewall. All of my clients
are at 100Mbps. I'm currently maxing out at 10MB/second to disk (I'm getting
faster throughput with 1 stream going to my HVD Storedge L9). My question is,
is there anything to do to speed this up? I would think 10MB/second would be
the minimum speed I'd get, not the max. There's 4 adv_file devices, each one
has 4 target sessions allowable, and the server is set to 64 for
parrallelism. Any more info needed, let me know. I'm a tad bit confused and
frustrated on this one.
