Folks,

  I am most grateful to Stephen, Ernst, David and Paul for helping me!

  Finally, I have next configuration:

 - Solaris 8 with installed Legato Networker 7.1, NDMP, Autochanger, DDS
share drive licenses (one license for each drive) and HBA ql2300 adapter
(I advice to use latest driver, old one didn't work);
 - NetApp with ONTAP 6.3.1R1 and FC adapter QLogic 2312;
 - L180 with two LTO 2 tape drives with FC interfaces;
 - all mentioned above devices are connected to the FC SilkWorm 3800
switch with zone supporting.

 No Zone configuration was on the switch.

Legato server has jukebox L180 configured as directly connected device
with 2 tape drives plus the same tape drives were configured as NDMP
devices. So we have L180 tape library with two share tape drives.

  The problem:

  After starting of NDMP backup tape drives are disappeared, as usual
after 5-10 hours of working and the rest of backup tasks were failed.

   Decision:

 Created 2 port zones (I decided by ports):

 First zone: HBA adapter of SUN machine (Legato server), tape drive
1, tape drive 2, Autochager FC interface;
 Second zone: NetApp HBA adapter, tape drive 1, tape 2.

  Now it works. I hope a long time :)

Regards, Vitaly

Folks,

  Could anybody get an advice how to configure FC switch (Brocade
SilkWorm 3800) with connected L180, backup server and NetApp to It?

 We are using Legato 7.1 on base Solaris 8 with Qlogic 2300 FC host
adapter, and L180 with 2 tape drives (IBM LTO2) and robotic with FC
interfaces each of them as well as NetApp with FC host adapter connected
to it.

  Backup server shared L180 tape devices with NetApp. Now we have not
put any configuration on the FC switch. The problem sometime occurs on
the NepApp box - _all_ L180 devices (tape drives and robotic)
disappear at all. Commands on the NetApp console : sysconfig -t and
sysconfig -m show nothing.

  So I guess the problem in Brocade Switch configuration. Perhaps need
to put zoning (by WWNs or by ports?) on this FC switch. May be by pairs:

Zones:

Server HBA <-> Tape drive1 FC interface
Server HBA <-> Tape drive2 FC interface
Server HBA <-> Robotic FC interface

NetApp HBA <-> Tape drive1 FC interface
NetApp HBA <-> Tape drive2 FC interface
NetApp HBA <-> Robotic FC interface

 Does any body have a strong solution with this configuration? I'll be
very appreciated if anybody could drop me a short description or
document's name in Inet!

  Regards, Vitaly
