Hello,

I am trying to backup Novell clients to a Solaris 8 server running
Solstice Backup 6.1.3. I have been able to backup three non-production
systems, but I just added four production systems and they don't
back up. I'm getting messages like the following on these newly
added systems:
* cs:WIN32: has been inactive for 30 minutes since Thu Nov 20 01:06:11 2003.
 * cs:WIN32: is being abandoned by nsrexec.

Here is a list of the machines OS versions and Networker client versions:
                Netware version Networker Client
cs 5.1 SP6 4.21 (production)
gwmta100 6.0 SP3 4.21 (production)
gwmta200 5.1 SP6 4.21 (production)
gwpoa401 5.1 SP6 4.21 (production)
gwtest 5.1 SP6 4.21 (test)
iserve 6.0 SP3 4.21 (test)
tsummon 4.11 SP9(?) 4.15 (test)

I was able to run a full backup of gwmta100 once by itself,
but none of the production machines (including gwmta100) will backup
when kicked off in a regularly scheduled group. I cannot back any of
the production systems up if I run them by themselves either
I've tried running a snoop while the backup is going, and there is not
much traffic sent.

I tried increasing the inactivity timeout to 60 minutes and then to 120
minutes, but the backup doesn't complete. So I don't think that changing
the timeout to 0 will help.

Two of the systems (cs, gwpoa401) had this abend error:
The CPU encountered a problem executing code in SERVER.NLM.
The problem may be in that module or in data passed to that module
by a process owned by SNAPSHOT.NLM.

Based upon some informaton from the Networker list about snapshot.nlm
errors, we reloaded Networker on gwmta100 and 200 without using the
open file support (These systems did not have the abend error). I was
successful in getting a backup of theses systems by themselves. However,
I want to have open file support enabled because some of these systems
are GroupWise mail servers and I need this option. If you want to see
the errors from the abend, I could provide that too.

Why are my production systems getting the "inactive" messages? What
is the cause of these messages? How could I get my Novell backups to work
with open file support enabled?

Thanks!
