Hi,

Have you tried changing the tcp delayed acknowledgement and/or tcp delayed
ack? Could be a tcp windows size issue/packet delay issue.

Take a look at
Refer to http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/10068360.htm
and
http://developer.novell.com/research/appnotes/2002/july/02/a0207026.htm

Also you may want to disable nagles algorythm:

SET TCP NAGLE ALGORITHM=OFF

This was on the mailing list a month or so ago, so you can probably find
add'l details from the original emails, but these should be the relevent
settings to try.

Subject: Re: Novell NDPS - Slow Backups

Hi Steve,

Unfortunately no ideas on my part - we have been seeing quite a few slow
performance issues on Novell as well. When we back the data up to the backup
server we get dog slow speeds (50KB - 100KB /s). Everything is checked out
fine (all tsa's and network etc).

When we stream the data to a storage node - we get "normal" throughputs (6MB
/s) ...

Only variable here is the backup server itself. All has been triple checked
a few times and I even went as far as to go "bakc" (shiver) to auto
detection on network card speeds etc (obviously this didnt solve our
problem).

Im starting to lose my faith in Novell here ... heh heh

Riaan
