We also use our SAN disks to make realtime copies of our Indexes and
Bootstrap at both sites by writing them to an ADV_FILE device on those
disks.

OK, here are the steps. Keep in mind, I am running on Windows 2000.

Setup...
1) Install Legato on Primary Server
2) Install Legato on Secondary Server
3) Spark up NetWorker Admin on both and get the HOSTID from both servers
4) On the Primary server create a file called HOSTID (or HOSTIDS) in
C:\legato\nsr\res
5) Disable NetWorker Backup and Recover Server

In the event of failover...
1) Take Primary server offline, if it isn't already
2) Delete domain account for primary
3) Rename secondary box to primary name
4) Give IP address of primary box secondary box
5) Restart Legato services...DONE!

All seemless to Legato. BTW, I do something similar for AlphaStor DR.

Cheers,
Jim

We use the HOSTIDS files used in clustering. So, we install NetWorker
on both servers, get the Host IDs off of each and put them in that file.
That's it!

Does your secondary have the same hostid? Or is hostid based on IP
address? --Shawn

We have two servers, one primary, one secondary. I run a script that
executes a robocopy of the NSR tree from the primary to the standby
servers NSR folder. The standby has NetWorker disabled. I rename the
standby server and change its IP to that of the primary and start the
services. This process works great. Just tested it on
Friday...success!

If I have 2 Legato servers what (if any) is the best way to import
client indexes from one server to another ? The purpose of this would be
to maintain a standby server or servers to be used in case the primary
Legato server and application servers become unavailable for an extended
length of time .

Thanks
