We recently upgraded from 5.5.2 on NT4 to 6.1.3 on W2K.  Ultimately we want
to move to Networker 7 but not for a while yet.  Also our NT4 and W2K
installations are separate systems so we didn't have to do an OS upgrade but
we did change the name/ip address of our server.

You can't upgrade from 5.5.x directly to 7 because of the need to convert
the indexes.  The upgrade from 5.5.2 to 6.1.3 on the NT4 system was painless
for us.  There were no problems and we're small enough that the index
conversion only took a couple of hours.

To move the 6.1.3 installation from the NT4 system to the W2K I used the
Solution ID: legato8254 (How to move NetWorker server 6.1.x from Windows NT
to another Windows NT system) as a reference.  One step in this is to save
the nsr/res directory and the indexes in zip files which are then restored
on the new system.  That worked well.

The big problems we had were with jukebox configuration.  We have a
Spectralogic 10000 (Bullfrog) with AIT-II drives.  There was no driver on
W2K for the AIT-II drives so we had to go get them in the middle of the
move.  The second problem was with the RSM manager which we had to turn off
for the jukebox before jbconfig would run without error.  Other than that
everything went fairly smoothly.

IMHO i first have to upgrade to Networker 6 and then to 
Networker 7. But when to upgrade NT4 to W2k, or better a 
fresh installation of W2k but how to save the indexes from 
networker?

Any hints welcome.
