I must agree with many here about AIT. We ran 2 AIT-1 drives in a Qualstar 4220
for 3 years and last year upgraded to 3 AIT-3 drives in a Qualstar 46120.

We ship tapes offsite weekly and have had no tape problems. The AIT-1 drives
were a problem initially but after a couple of drive replacements became very
reliable. We have not had a problem with the Sony AIT-3 drives and will be
adding a 4th drive shortly.

We backup almost 1TB a week from all Solaris clients and one NetApp.
