Stan,

I've read other's replys and they do seem on the mark. I can say
when we went to SDLT drives from DLT7000's the tape mount time when down
tremendously which helped our server. That said, I used AIT drives years
ago and they have one of the fastest load times on the market if I remember
correctly.

Is it possible that, based on your number of drives, parallelisms, and
target values, that your server is trying to mount too many tapes? That is,
do you see it trying to mount tapes but all your drives are busy?

I think additional CPU's will help with the Network load and mount requests.
Its too bad they don't help with the single threaded nsrd. In the meantime
I would think turning down some of the parallelism and reducing the load on
the server would help?
