The 220 spec is for assumed 2:1 compression this is not a maximum but a
standard value most manufacturers use. On LTO-1 which would be 100G native
and 200G at 2:1 I've had one tape with 600G on it ( basically empty oracle
databases) typically we get 4:1 compression on our database systems and 2:1
on fileservers. I've seen DLT 8000's getting 0.9:1 compression
(decompression/expansion) on a system used for storing technical drawings!!
All the above with hardware compression on the drives.
