Dear Networkers,
we have a storage node in an external office running MS SQL 7 on Windows
2000 and the MSSQL Business Module. Server is a SunFire 280R running
Networker 6.11 Build 238 under SOlaris 8. Backing up the databse with a
directive of MSSQL: worked until last week when nbackups started to fail
evvery night with these messages in the savegroup completion:
<snip>
* storagenode:MSSQL: savegrp: suppressed 2 lines of output
* storagenode:MSSQL: Microsoft SQL Server Provider error:
* storagenode:MSSQL: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL
Server]Database 'HogiaArt_Red_0003_0' cannot be opened because some of
the files could not be activated..
* storagenode:MSSQL: Execute DB command <SELECT sum(used) FROM
[HogiaArt_Red_0003_0]..sysindexes where indid in (0, 1, 255)> failed
* storagenode:MSSQL: Microsoft SQL Server Provider error:
* storagenode:MSSQL: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL
Server]Database 'HogiaArt_Red_0003_0' cannot be opened because some of
the files could not be activated..
* storagenode:MSSQL: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL
Server]Backup or restore operation terminating abnormally..
* storagenode:MSSQL:
* storagenode:MSSQL: Backup/Recover command failed
* storagenode:MSSQL: bsVdiAbort: handle is bad
</snip>
The "bsVdiAbort: handle is bad" message also appears when I run a user
initiated backup from the storage node (which hosts the db as well btw).

Has any one of you ever seen anything like this?

Kind regards from Duesseldorf

~christian
