Hello,
has anyone experiences with using Networker ONLY with file type devices
(or, maybee in conjunction with one autochanger to save the server's data
itself to tape)?
Today we use two DLT7000/8 slots autochangers (Networker 6.0.3 Server NT4,
NT4/W2K/Linux/Solaris clients and BSM's for exchange 5.5, SAP R/3 on
Oracle/Solaris). The autochangers are pretty old and we have to decide what
to do in the next weeks.
I've set up a testserver with a file type device, so my experiences with
this tends to zero...
E.g.
Is it correct that i can use only one volume per file device?
Is it o.k. to use more than one directory=file device in one HD-partition?
Does automatic recycling of file devices is done by networker server?
(Or) Is it possible to use script(s) to unmount/recycl a file device?
...
Has anyone written a little how-to (...in the admin-manual i have found
only a few lines about file devices at page 223...)?
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance and please forgive the bad english...
greetings, Juergen
