Joel,
Some times those "super" users take themselves the privileges of moving
standard command like "cmd" away from their standard location.
If this system has been "secured" using this type of technology, any
installation script/procedure based on standard MS procedures is prone
to fail.
You should thoroughly check what has been done to the system.
HTH,
        Itzik

Subject: [Networker] install problem

Hey Guys,

I have a win2k client that won't install correctly. The install
completes "successfully" but it doesn't create an nsrla.res file, and
the client is listening only on 7938 not 7937.

When the client starts up I get the below message.

06/04/03 10:07:57 nsrexecd: Can't initialize configuration file
C:\Program Files\nsr\res\nsrla.res

06/04/03 10:07:57 nsrexecd: SYSTEM error: No such file or directory

06/04/03 10:07:57 nsrexecd: error initializing resource file.

06/04/03 10:22:03 nsrexecd: Can't initialize configuration file
C:\Program Files\nsr\res\nsrla.res

06/04/03 10:22:03 nsrexecd: SYSTEM error: No such file or directory

06/04/03 10:22:03 nsrexecd: error initializing resource file.

The user is a "super" user, so he took it upon himself to "secure" the
box and I think he may have removed something that networker requires.

I couldn't find a list of what network client/protocols/services
networker requires in the manual(did I miss it or is it not there)... so
does anyone know off hand what network client/protocols/services are
required(obviously TCP/IP).

Also does anyone know how to get/create the resource id that is in the
nsrla.res file so I could manually create that file for this client. I
can't connect via nsradmin -s <clientname> -v1 -p 390113 because the
client doesn't seem to have RPC program 390113(nsrexec) running.

Any ideas?

server:

E450/2.6/6.1.2

client:

Dell/w2k/6.1.2

Thanks,

Joel
