OK. That's actually page 42 - a brief search located the relevant section!

The release supplement does not say the same as you have said above. It
says that 586 and above is supported, when in fact the truth is that only
686 is supported, as you said above. I suggest an update to the release
supplement. To avoid confusion I also suggest renaming the distribution
tarball, since it is no longer x86, unless the x is always a 6!

I suppose I can understand phasing out support for 386 and 486, since there
aren't so many of those left in serious usage, but not so sure about 586.

Time for a hardware upgrade methinks. And I only recently upgraded from a
486DX2/66 to a P133!
