The last thing I heard on the matter was that there was not plans
whatsoever about selling legato, and that was on thier partner/customer
conference in february. But in this buissiness who can say anything :) If
the right offer comes around, I'm sure they will sell.

As for blocking both downloads and knowledge bases, well I really
counldn't care less I have this mailing list and I am sure that if I need
a certain patch or download I can get it here too. I have never had the
'pleasure' of having to use legato support directly. We have our support
with a local house who knows thier way around this product. But all in all
I have been able to solve most of my issues myself or by using this list.
The idea behind blocking downloads and knowledge base is rather silly
though, its not like 1000's of people who don't use legato software will
come by and download the software or use the knowledge base.

I agree with David.
Legato has turned down purchase offers a few times through the years ....
either the buying prices were too low, or something else in the package
was
likeable to them - {sources: Wall Street Journal & NASDAQ, Company Info).
In any event, Legato seems to be struggling financially right now (as per
their layoffs and the other recent cost cutting they have done). But I
seriously think they are NOT going to sell unless the "right price" comes
along.
