[Networker] Question about PREFERRED MEDIA settings

Hello,

       I've just replaced two AIT-2 drives with AIT-3 drives in
a 3-tape Qualstar library.   I set "preferred media" to AIT-3
for the two AIT-3 devices.

       I still have some recyclable AIT-2 tapes that I would like
this library to use, but now, even though there are recyclable AIT-2
tapes in the library, I get "WAITING FOR 2 WRITEABLE VOLUMES..."
messages.   If I insert AIT-3 unlabeled tapes, all goes well.

       I don't want to change preferences to AIT-2 for these drives, do
I?  (I assume, then, it won't use AIT-3 tapes -- am I wrong?)
Anyone with mixed drives run into this problem and fix it?
