Almost anything could be to blame for this.

Have you tried creating a new Test Group where you attempt to backup only 1
of these clients?
Does this also happen when you try to backup via the command line, using the
savegrp command?
Ping is fine, but what does rpcinfo report?
Try to think about what has changed in this configuration since 2 weeks
ago... a new driver? new NIC's? any new patches installed? ????

I wish I could be more decisive and helpful to you. But this is quite a
broad item you have presented us here.

Hi List,

I recently (within the last two weeks) started seeing this issue with my
backups. As you can see, I have two clients (one is AIX 3.2, and the other
is SunOS) that send a message that All 4 retries attempted and all
conections
timed out.
Both machines can ping the server and vice versa (both by name and IP).
I've
restarted Networker on all machines, and even rebooted...

Anyone have any ideas?
