Cloning is slow because it ( not a techie term) DE-STREAMS the save sets.  This 
means that you may have servers 1-8 (depends on your config) saving to a single 
tape.  NetWorker, when cloning, will follow server 1 across all tapes it spans 
until completion, then move onto server 2, etc...  This has been our 
experience...

        It depends on how interleaved the tape is.  If you've got 32 parallel
        sessions, of which one is the informix backup, then the cloning will be
        slow.  If you've got 8 parallel sessions, you're cloning will be
        noticibly faster.
        
        I get between 5 and 25 MB/s on my SDLT220 drives.
