Hi,
No they won't be auto labelled. Once you remove a tape from the media DB
NetWorker will not attempt to use that tape for anything. If all you do is
remove the index entries for the tape, you haven't scratched the tape at
all.
Only tapes that are in mode "recyclable" and that are in a pool eligible to
satisfy the current mount request will be auto labelled.
i.e. the recyclable tape must be in the same pool as the required tape, or
in a pool that has "Recycle to other pools" enabled. The pool for which the
request is outstanding must have "Recycle from other pools" enabled.

Hi,
will this have the effect also that the purged tapes will be used as scratch
tapes ? ie. they will be autolabelled to pools that need an empty tape but
have none left ?

Hi,
use "nsrmm -d <volume>"
If you use "nsrmm -d -P <volume>" the corresponding file index entries are
purged, without deleting the entries in the media database. You can use the
scanner command to recover the file index entries.

Klaus

Betreff: [Networker] scratch tapes
Networkers,
is it possible to 'unregister' a tape ? IE turn a tape that previously
belonged to a pool into a Scratch tape ? (the ones that show up with '-*' as
label )
TIA,
Kris
