Hi there;

We have a Win2K Server with a 9740 and 4 x 9840's and 1 x 9840B drive.  We have
two of the 9840's attached to an SN3250 and the 9840B is directly attached. We
have a "backup zone" on the FC which currently contains the SN3250 and the
9840B and a designated storage node. Also, if you employ HP / Compaq Fiber
Switches, you may wish to have all tape devices configured to connect
physically to the first 4 ports on the switch. This has to do with determining
the order of discovery of the devices. Keeping a separate zone will keep down
the SCSI bus resets which may occur if you have only one zone and all your
servers can see the fiber devices.

That's how I understand it...  :)

Bruno, can you expound on this a bit more? I'm the NetWorker expert at
our site, but I can't say I'm a SAN expert yet. We're looking to hook our
SCSI-based STK9710 library with SDLT drives into one of our two fabrics
using a pair of STK SN3250 FC<->SCSI routers. For the forseeable future,
the only thing that would be in that zone would be the host's HBA
and the two SN3250s.

I had been planning on using the QLogic 2300 HBA in the Linux box that
will be our new NetWorker server.
