Robert,

Look at the pool definition for the pool you were going to label the
file device into.  You have made the mistake of picking the devices
allowed to be used by that pool.  Let me temper the mistake statement
with it really depends on your configuration whether it was a mistake or
not.

Unfortunately, people often pick all of the devices at the time of
initial configuration for their pools (thinking this is necessary).
What they don't realize is that not picking devices in the pool
configuration allows all devices to be used by that pool.  Hence, when
they add a device later that device is not selected in all of their
pools (hence the problem you are seeing).

The rule of thumb always is don't pick devices in your pool
configurations unless you truly want to limit which devices can be used
by that pool.  The pool settings are all filters and hence limit what
data can go to them.
