I use lsof (got from www.sunfreeware.com):

# lsof /dev/rmt0.1
COMMAND   PID USER   FD   TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF INODE NAME
nsrmmd  21966 root    8r  VCHR  50,33      0t0  1443 /dev/rmt4.1
# kill 21966

I usually use the fuser command:

cromite{root}# fuser /dev/rmt/1cbn
/dev/rmt/1cbn:    19063o
cromite{root}# ps -fp 19063
     UID   PID  PPID  C    STIME TTY      TIME CMD
    root 19063 19048  0   Jan 14 ?       853:48 /usr/sbin/nsr/nsrmmd -n 7
cromite{root}#
