Make sure you have your current enablers and authorization codes
documented
some place safe and make a copy of the nsr.res file before beginning the
modification. The nsr.res file is a live file while NetWorker is running
so
be sure to make the copy after NetWorker is halted. These instructions
are
tailored for a HP-UX installation (don't know about other platforms):

1) Shutdown the NetWorker Server from the command line:

         /sbin/init.d/networker stop

Make sure all nsr processes have stopped before going on to the next
step.

         ps -ef | grep nsr

2) Make a copy of the nsr.res file

         cp -p /nsr/res/nsr.res /nsr/res/nsr.res_mmddyy.prev

3) Startup the editor using the command:

         nsradmin -f /nsr/res/nsr.res

Note: You may need to be in the /opt/networker/bin directory unless
it is
already in your path.

    a) Enter the command "delete type:NSR license"
    b) A listing of all the license information should be displayed (one
enabler at a time).
    c) When prompted with "delete?", reply with "yes" when it displays
the
base enabler otherwise reply "no" when any other enabler is displayed.
    d) Once you've deleted the base enabler exit the editor with the
command
"quit".

4) Restart NetWorker at the command line with:

         /sbin/init.d/networker start

5) Start up the Administration GUI and connect to the Server.

         export DISPLAY=xxxxx:0.0
         nwadmin&

Note: You may get some complaint about licensure. Ignore this for
now.

6) Go to "Server" menu and select "Registration" and add the base
enabler
for NetWorker Server (for instance the temporary Power Edition enabler
is
e9726b-a6153a-e955b3).

7) To put things back, do the same steps above and re-add the legato
issued
base enabler and auth code. Another option is to replace the saved copy
of
nsr.res with the current one. However, Be sure to only swap out the
nsr.res
file while NetWorker is not running.

Subject: [Networker] how to delete an existing base enabler?

I'm in the process of migrating all of my existing NetWorker servers
(Solaris 8, running 6.1.1) from their current licensing enablers
("Enterprise Enabler", something Legato used to hand out but no longer
does) to a "normal" enabler (i.e., Network Edition.)

I'm running into an issue in that the existing base enabler (Enterprise)
can't be deleted via nwadmin or nsradmin before creating the new one
(Network.)

Somebody please tell me that Legato has a better way of accomplishing
this
than having to re-install NetWorker from scratch...

TIA
