Did you ever get a solution for this.

I have recently update my server from 6.1.1 to 6.1.3 on NT4 and now one of
my linux clients is not backing up. I have checked the DNS and security
settings on both the windows server and linux client, but still nothing. I
have also updated the linux client to 6.1.2 and still nothing.

The error I am getting is:

  savefs flash.london.agency.com: failed.
* flash.london.agency.com:All 1 retry attempted
* flash.london.agency.com:All nsrexec: authtype nsrexec
* flash.london.agency.com:All savefs: RPC error: Unable to receive
* flash.london.agency.com:All savefs: cannot retrieve client resources

Any help appreciated

Cheers

Nick

A caution to those upgrading to Networker 6.1.3:
I just upgraded our Solaris 8 sparc Networker Server from
6.1.1 to 6.1.3 and some of our unix clients could no longer
backup to the server.

These Networker clients do not run the nsrexecd daemon
(for well founded security reasons)
and instead use rsh with a non-root "Remote user" attribute
in the client's resources.

When Networker backups are invoked from the server using rsh, the rsh of
the operating system is by-passed for an rsh that is built-in to the
savegrp command. The trouble with Networker 6.1.3 server is that the
 rsh client implementation is broken.
The secondary rsh port for stderr is not explicitly requested as a secure
port and, thus the Networker client's rsh server will drop the connection.
The Networker 6.1.1 server did not have this problem.

I will try to open up a case with Legato Tech. Support asap.
