Networkers,
Question: *Must* I have a client cluster license to backup an unshared file
system on hpux mc/sg cluster node? If so why? - what additional
functionality does it provide?
networker network edition, 6.1.2.
hp-ux 11.0 server/storage node, non-clustered.
hp-ux 11i cluster clients (2).
I have a new 2 node hp-ux cluster. I have an existing Legato Networker
environment consisting of 1 server and 3 clients - non-clustered. I have
available client licenses. I just want to backup filesystems on my cluster
nodes, nothing fancy, no failover packages, etc. The cluster nodes do not
share any file systems. I have installed the client s/w on the 2 cluster
nodes. When I attempt to backup the nodes, on the server I get messages
like the following for each filesystem on the clients:
Jan 21 16:44:18 dmss Networker: * rac1:/
Jan 21 16:44:18 dmss Networker: * rac1:/ save: Cannot open save session
with prd
Jan 21 16:44:18 dmss Networker: * rac1:/stand 1 retry attempted
Jan 21 16:44:18 dmss Networker: * rac1:/stand save: RAP error: Unable to
grant UNIX CLUSTER CLIENT license: Too many clients. Maximum is 0
Jan 21 16:44:18 dmss Networker: * rac1:/stand
Jan 21 16:44:18 dmss Networker: * rac1:/stand save: Cannot open save session
It is true that I don't have any cluster license. However I don't
understand why I need one. I just want to backup filesystems like I've
always done on the non-clustered clients.
Please advise.
Thanks,
