NO this is not an "annoyance", it is NetWorker working as designed and
protecting you from yourself. I would advise strongly against running this
script, since by doing this you could be seriously reducing your retention
period. In order to allow a point-in-time recovery from "retention time"
ago, it is necessary for NetWorker to keep some full backups for longer than
the retention period. Imagine the following scenario:

Retention period set to 4 weeks with full backups weekly and incrementals
daily. The day before your full backup you are requested to recover a file
from 27 days ago, theoretically within your published retention period (and
SLA?). This recovery requires the full backup from 34 days ago and some of
the incrementals just after that. However you have removed these backups by
running your script. You have failed your SLA. Imagine further that the full
backup 20 days ago failed for some reason. Now the most recent point-in-time
recovery available is from 13 days ago, since this is the oldest full backup
you have. How does that compare with your SLA?

By letting NetWorker do its job properly you will always be able to recover
files right up to your retention period. You have been warned.
