Huh?  Solaris on Sparc is big-endian.  Tru64 on alpha is little-endian.
There should be *less* trouble between HP-UX and Solaris than between
Tru64 and Solaris, since both HP-UX and Solaris are big-endian (at least
on RISC chips).

I agree with what you're saying -- that converting between the various
vendors should be possible, no matter what the platform uses for byte
ordering -- but your facts are a little out of whack with regard to what
platforms are big or little endian.
